What does it mean to be a curator in a technological age — and what does “the past” mean to an AI?

We live in a world radically different from the one our ancestors imagined: a dense network of information, communication and transport technologies that shapes our lives and alters our perception. Artists now try to understand the present and imagine the future through the lens of technology.

In this project an AI curator explores new ways of thinking about art, technology, the past and the future. How can artificial intelligence use technology as a curatorial practice? How can it take part in a digital art show as more than an enabler of the artwork? Which criteria would it choose to curate an exhibition?

Installed at Fişekhane — a historic factory built to process raw metal, an old building ahead of its time — Avind asks which multidisciplinary works an AI would bring together under one roof.
